I’m back at Cornell University to see the Melodramatic’s production of Rent.  After a very nice checkin and evening, this morning at breakfast I realized why its so great and slightly off-putting.  It’s obvious.  It’s staffed by Cornell Hotel Administration students.  So it’s like going to a McDonald’s and seeing the entire executive team running the register, the deep fat fryer, and the McFlurry machine.  Which reminds, me.  I would like a McFlurry with my omelet, please.

It’s pretty clear when the opening song, “Hello” shows the main character unable to stick to the approved “script” for Mormons on a mission.
